How to make your website talk to you

16th February 2011 03:00 by tom

If you're like me and you prefer listening rather than reading, then a new API from Ericson might be just up your street!

Their new text to speech API lets developers quickly and easily convert strings of text into audio files. It's then just a small step to creating a system which automatically records audio versions of all the CMS powered pages on your website; for example your latest news headlines. Pretty cool stuff!

If you'd like help getting audio clip generation setup on your website, then give us a shout and we'll work out how we can 'mash it up' for you.

All I have to do now is work out how to stop it speaking in such an annoying American computer accent!

Plus we generate a sound clip of every comment, so now we can hear what you lot really sound like!

Keep it clean please, you'll make our soundman blush!

Hehe that's pretty funny. I'm not sure this will really be all that useful for a lot of people other than a bit of a novelty - atleast until they can make him sound a little less annoying. I'm not sure I can cope with listening to his monotone voice for much longer!

    Funny though! :)

I love it! And it doesn't sound as horribly robotic as I expected :)

Actually -I've just listened to my comment and it is rather American!
