SouthBristolRiverscapes.org.uk site launches for Bristol City Council

lisa Lisa, 23rd October 2009

It's been a busy couple of weeks for us, with several big site launches as projects come to completion. SouthBristolRiverscapes.org.uk is a website where people living in Bristol can learn more about their local rivers. The site allows authorised members of River Groups to upload resources on to a map of their particular river, so visitors can view photos and videos and hear audio and see exactly where that resource originates from on the river. The committee wanted a very simple, clear design and a very easy to use site that their audience and River Groups would appreciate. In order for River Group members to put something on a map, they simply have to "click" on the map where they would like to place a pin. A main design feature of the site is the artwork; the unique illustrations (or rather, lino prints) are by Bristol artist Melanie Wickham and the hand sketched maps are by Juliet from the Riverscapes team.
