Hi,
Well here we are, in the double digits of December ALREADY! It really is the fastest month, isn’t it?!
I hope everything is going well for you – whether it’s Christmas sales, wrapping up projects before the end of the year, or lining up work for 2026. I’m keeping my head above water, just about!
Possibly a fab early Christmas present…
Yesterday, I posted a reel on Instagram with the theme “Ask me anything (about websites)” – and I’d love to invite you to use it in order to ask me a question about anything that’s been troubling you lately. Or that’s baffling you for 2026. Are you considering a new site and don’t know what platform to use? Are you struggling to see the importance of SEO in 2026? Those are big questions – but you might have specific ones too like “how can I update my title tag?”, or “how do I see which page of my site is the most popular in GA4?”.
Excuse the super awkward face I’m pulling in the reel – filming didn’t quite go to plan last night at the circus. 😳
So, if anything’s troubling you, ask away and I’ll do my best to help. A little bit of free consultancy and strategy wrapped up with a metaphorical bow.
Or save the reel for when you next do have a web dilemma.
(If you’re just starting out with a new, first, website for your business, make sure you see my newsletter next week for something headed your way.)
On the grid
Incase you’ve missed it on Insta, I’ve been reminiscing about AQA – Any Question Answered; do you remember that? The service where you could text a question for £1 and they’d send you an answer? I used to work for them! I answered the questions! So I was basically ChatGPT in 2003.
I also explained the 3 main ways to get information from other sources on your website – embeds, API hook ups, and subdomains. I’ve also gone into more detail on this blog post. So this is when you want jobs from your career platform to show up on your company website, or you want to enable people to book your restaurant or yoga classes from your site.
And I explained the definition of “TLD” – a top level domain. This, and the guide I’m working on at the moment about getting started with a website, was inspired by my friend who text me asking if it was normal to spend £3k on a domain – errr, no it is not!!
Fave tool of the week
Last week, feeling overwhelmed by December, I made a Trello board with a list for every day from then until the big day. I then added a card for each thing I need to do, and scheduled them across the various days. And yes, I’m shuffling them around as suits, but it’s REALLY helped me stay on target and feel on top of things at this hectic time of year.
Trello is basically my favourite “to do list” tool. But it’s more than that – we use it at work for scheduling, prioritising and keeping track of client requests as they come in (as an agency, we have a constant stream of little jobs to do for a long list of clients as well as the bigger build projects we’re working on).
The best – and worst – thing about Trello is how versatile it is. Because you can structure your Boards, Lists and Cards however you want, it can feel a bit aimless at first if you’re not sure “how” you should set things up. But the truth is, you just set things up however you want. You can always have a reshuffle if you think of a better way to structure things as you get more used to it.
I mentioned it on my Insta stories and immediately had people tell me they were going to use it for work, even though I was using it for my life to do list. I use it for free, and it does everything I need. They’re adding new features constantly but so far it still seems to have retained the overall simplicity that made it so popular across the world.
That’s all for this week folks, speak soon.
