Hi,

Apologies this is late in the day – the kids are at their Granny’s so it doesn’t feel like a normal Tuesday! I basically don’t know what day it is.

This week’s thing to do is as big or as little as you want to make it…

Your navigation

Take a look at the links at the top of your website. (If they’re not at the top… maybe they should be?)

Now – do they all make sense? Are any cryptic? Are they what people expect?

It’s often great to be original and creative… but sometimes people just want to see the words homeaboutservices and portfolio so they know where they’re at.

Are the words you’ve chosen self-explanatory?

Are there too many? And it looks crowded or is wrapping weirdly on some screen sizes?

Or too few? Is there a key offering buried somewhere in your website that actually deserves a button in the navigation?

Sorry for sounding a bit like Goldilocks, but you know, it’s got to be as close to “just right” as you can make it!

Just look this week…

It can be a big deal to plan and implement a navigation change if you’ve got lots of stakeholders to run it past, and departments to keep happy.

…Or do it!

Or if you can see a glaring improvement and you just need to log into the CMS to change it, and don’t need anyone’s permission, then do it!

Either way, look what needs to change (if anything) and take a first step towards making it happen.

And I’ll speak to you at the usual time next week!
