A little more detail…
For those who don’t know their title tag from their alt tag, you can split SEO down into 2 broad categories, ‘on page’ and ‘off page’.
On page is the easy bit and basically defines the things you can do to make your site as search engine friendly as possible including:
The proper use of title and meta tags.
The importance of keeping your site fresh.
Search engine friendly URLs and information architecture.
Google Sitemaps, robot.txt files, anchor text, alt tags, title tags, proper use of semantically correct HTML markup – To give search engines such as Google as much help as possible in finding your site and ranking it’s pages well.
Finding the correct keywords to target and how to identify other commonly searched phases which receive a lot of searches.
The correct way to write copy for the web (why the occasional typo might not be such a bad thing).
Using online tools and browser plugins to improve your site and it’s chances in the search engines.
Off page SEO is everything which the search engines use to determine where you should rank which isn’t related to the code on your site.
Topics we’ll discuss include:
Handling link building (or not!) in 2015.
Learn how to see your link profile and the link profile of your competitors and what you can do with this information.
How to make the most of social media, and new ways of getting traffic.
After the training day you’ll leave with a detailed plan of action which you can put into practice to help improve the ranking of your site and ultimately get more visitors to find you.
What to expect
Rather than have fixed SEO course dates, we’re currently trialing running our course on a 1-to-1 basis from our training room in Winscombe (BS25 – just past Bristol airport). The price is the same as a large group course – but you get 1-to-1 attention and all aspects of the course can be tailored to your site specifically.
We follow the curriculum as laid out in the summary above and allocate time to deal with specific issues clients have, discssing together how their SEO can be improved in a real world situation.
We generally start at 9.30, stop for a mid-morning coffee at 11, and then carry on until 1.30pm. Then if you’d like to make a day of it, after lunch we can look at competitor analysis and put together a tailored strategy for you, before heeading home at 5.30.
