I recently received an email from a company encouraging me to renew my client’s domain with them – at a much higher price than I’d normally pay.  The domain in question is months away from renew, and it’s registered with someone else. When it does come time to renew, it will cost around £10, not the $75 qoted here.

The email is from notice@domainnotices672.com with the subject line: “Domain Notification: YOUR NAME This is your Final Notice of Domain Listing – YOURDOMAIN.NET”.

If you read it carefully it does say how I have no prior relationship with this company, it’s not an invoice and I have no obligation to give them any money. However – it is written in an alarmist tone, claiming it’s my “final notice” and that if I wish to accept the offer I need to reply within 2 days.

If you receive this email, read it carefully to check it definately is the same / is a hoax in your case too – and then don’t worry about it!

The full email transcript is below with mine and my client’s details changed.
