Hi,

Happy Tuesday! Hope you had a lovely weekend?

(If we haven’t “met” yet, I’ve just posted an About Me post on Insta – please do pop over and say hi! You’ll see what happens when someone runs wild with a Canva Pro subscription…)

OK as promised… part 2 of my 3 week plan of something super important to do on your website…

Email someone (preferably more than 1 someone) to ask them to leave you a review on your Google Business listing you set up last week.

Why? Because reviews, or testimonials, are OH SO important for getting mentioned by AI.

AI doesn’t know you. But AI wants to give the best answers.

So if someone is looking for a recommendation, ChatGPT and all of that gang are going to look for businesses with strong testimonials and reviews.

And having these as Google reviews means they’re all nicely formatted as being “real” reviews, with the bonus that Google 100% knows about them too.

📢 And to practice what I preach…

If you’re enjoying these emails and ever find them useful, I’d absolutely love a 5* review on our Google profile here… See it as leaving me a “tip” that doesn’t cost you anything, but helps me!

(Drop me an email after you’ve done it and I’ll give you a little thank you in the shape of a free 3 month upgrade on SiteVitals.)

✨Thank you!✨

Getting reviews by sector…

  • Service based companies – email a client you’ve just completed something for whilst the work is fresh in their minds. I did this the other day and got a great response.
  • Product based companies – can you schedule an automated email to someone after they’ve received their product to ask for a review? Can you offer anything in return to make them more likely to bother? The review needs to be genuine – you can’t “buy” the review – but I appreciate when you don’t have a personal relationship with a customer it can be harder to get (good) feedback.
  • Hospitality or tourism based companies – can you, right now, hatch a plan to leave a QR code on every table / in every room / at the exit asking people to review you? (You might also want to consider TripAdvisor rather than just Google.) I appreciate this is going to take approval and artwork and printing but can you get the ball rolling this week?
  • Charities – tricky too for you guys… can you reach out to some of the people who have benefitted from your work? And ask for a testimonial, or “their story” rather than a “review”? Or other organisations you work alongside who enjoy working with you?

Speak next week for part 3 of 3 (can you see where it’s going yet?!).
