Web browsers - Are you having problems with IE 9?

dean Dean, 18th May 2011

Since the release of the Microsoft IE9 - 14th March 2011, there have been no major glitches reported. However there have been many reported minor problems. A problem that appears to be more and more common is a troubleshooting problem when you are trying to install Internet Explorer 9. We have seen several other small faults, including a small problem with Javascript.

We would recommend that you check your website with this browser just to make sure that no glitches show up and to see if any updates need to be made. If you would like us to test things in the light of this new release, please get in contact. We can then discuss any updates that need to be made to the website.

Other Interesting Browser Information

Microsoft and other major internet players are constantly making big updates to their browsers to compete with one another. Since 1999, Internet Explorer has been the most used web browser. Its highest peak usage was between 2005 and 2006 claiming a 95% usage share. Explorer has been around for a long time, so it is interesting to see how its rivals perform. Google Chrome – one of the newest browsers around has done a good job of increasing its usage share.

As of the beginning of 2011 the percentage of people using different browsers was in, with the following results; Internet Explorer 45%, Firefox 30%, Chrome 17%, Safari 5%, and Opera 2%, leaving all the others sharing the remaining 1%.
